The Brisbane Lions are the one and only AFL football team in Brisbane. They are the product of a merger between the Brisbane Bears and Fiztroy Lions formed before the 1997 season.

The first season as a merged club was not as successful as many people predicted, but we still made it to the finals and this season hope to go even further.

April 4 : The Lions suffered their second defeat of the season to the Sydney Swans 135 - 97. They were still in the game at three quarter time, but the team tired and the Swans ran away with the game.


April 2: Tony Liberatore has been cleared of any charges from the scratching incident on Saturday night. it was believed that there wasn't enough evidence to prove that Liberatore has performed any misconduct.

April 1 : Bulldogs tagger Tony Liberatore was charged with scratching the face of Lions midfielder, Steve Lawrence, and will face the AFL tribunal at 5:30pm today. The charge was downgraded by AFL investigations officer, Rick Lewis, after interviewing Liberatore, Brad Johnson, Lawrence, Craig McRae and Lions doctor Alan Mackenzie, as well as umpires Peter Carey and Craig Durham.

March 31 : The Lions have lodged an official complaint to the AFL against Bulldogs   tagger Tony Liberatore. He allegedly face gouged Lions midfielder, Steve Lawrence and an investigation will now proceed into the incident.

March 28: The Lions had  an embarrassing 118 to 72 loss to the Western Bulldogs in their season opening clash. The Bulldogs pulled away from a dismal Brisbane during the second quarter, and although with Lynch up in the forward line a last quarter comeback looked promising, the Lions fell away to a humiliating defeat.
